The Gospel of Judas
by Ray Geide

The Gospel of Judas is not the first and will not be the last ancient book proclaimed to be a lost book of the Bible. Many of these books have been known to exist for decades. When I was a child, I had a novelty catalog that sold a book containing the "Lost Books of the Bible". That was nearly 40 years ago. Now with the inspection of the Gospel of Judas by the National Geographic Society and the incredulous lies of the DaVinci Code, the idea has become quite popular. Yet the same facts that existed 40 years ago still to this day flatly disprove the whole idea. The National Geographic Society and literary scholars all agree with and even publish these facts, but they conveniently ignore the conclusions that these facts draw.
One fact is the date of these books. Most of these books were not written at the time that the Bible was written but instead were written at least a hundred years later.
Another fact is that most of these books are frauds. The Gospel of Judas was not written by Judas, the Gospel of Thomas was not written by Thomas, and the Gospel of Mary was not written by Mary. On the other hand the books of the Bible were written by who claimed to write them.
Third, the content of these books are quite different and often in direct opposition to the teachings of the Bible.
Yet another fact has to do with the beliefs of those wrote these books. Most of these books were written by Gnostics. Gnostism was a cult that was just springing up around the time that the New Testament was written. Many of the books of the Bible warn against the beliefs of the Gnostics. For example, 1 John 4:1 and 3 says "Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world ... Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist." The Gnostics thought that only the spirit could be divine and did not believe that Jesus Christ had come in the flesh. Their beliefs are against the Bible.
The Gnostics wrote books to resemble the books of the Bible in order to deceive people into believing their false beliefs. Ancient Christian writings dating back to that time warned against these deceptive books.
With all of the facts in mind, why would anyone even assume that these books are lost books of the Bible? I believe it is because even though these "experts" believe the words of these frauds they refuse to believe the words of the authentic books of the Bible. The Bible over and over again claims its words to be from God and tells what beliefs are not from God. These "experts" do not want to accept that. They don't agree with the teachings of the Bible and so they try to deceive everyone into accepting their beliefs by using mistruths and lies.
Will you believe the truth or a lie?
