How it All Started
In 1992 God called the founder of MCII, Ray Geide, to go to Russia as a missionary. In less than a year he moved his family to St. Petersburg, Russia and lived among the Russian people. Almost immediately he started a church and shared with them about Christ.
Refusing to take people from other churches, he brought teenagers, children, alcoholics, and drug dealers into the church and won them to Christ. After many years he was able to train some of these converts to be leaders and pastors.
As Ray attempted to turn the church over to the Russian leaders, he realized a problem that does not exist in most other countries. The Apostle Paul realized the same problem with the church of Jerusalem.
The problem is this: some mission churches cannot exist without outside help, especially in oppressive countries, like, Russia and China. Even though his church had experienced leaders and faithful members, they were extremely poor and did not have enough money to pay for the meeting place, for taxes, for salaries, or for most other expenses.
